How to Dress for the 8 Body Shape

The figure 8 body shape is characterized by a high hip.

  • Shoulders tend to be curved
  • The shoulders and hips are similar in width
  • Bust size ranges from small to large
  • Well-defined waist
  • The widest part of the hip is higher, closer or at the belly button, whereas the widest part of the hip on the X or A is by the thighs
  • Tend to be short waisted due to high hips
  • Small waist suddenly juts out to high hip, giving it a shelf-like appearance

As the figure 8 body shape is generally balanced, it is important to maintain the balance in the upper and lower parts of the body while highlighting the waist without making her look wide.

  • Wear straight or tapered skirts and pants to keep the figure narrow
  • Opt for soft drapey fabrics that follow the body's natural curve
  • Look for tops and dresses with waist defining details
  • Open necklines such as scoop, v, off-the-shoulder, sweetheart for a big bust, while a round, boat or crew neck flatters a smaller bust
  • Avoid boxy or shapeless clothing that hides the waist
  • Avoid flared skirts or wide leg trousers
